treatment for lymphedema

Lymphedema occurs when there is disruption of drainage of the fluids in the body, and the Lymphatic System is not functioning properly.

Lymphedema is a slowing of the Lymphatic System draining fluids in the body causing swelling.  This can occur from injury, surgery, cancer treatments, or can be congenital.

The swelling can occur anywhere in the body, but is common in the arms, legs and trunk.

Lymphedema can be managed by Manual Lymphatic Drainage techniques, Compression Therapy, Exercise, and Education for self-management.
